Common aluminum alloy grades and usages

  • JIS A.A1000 series-pure aluminum series
  1. 1060 as a conductive material, IACS guarantee 61% . if need enough strength , choose 6061 wire .
  2. 1085 1080 1070 1050 1N30 1085 1080 1070 1050 — Good formability and surface treatment, and its corrosion resistance is the best among aluminum alloys. Because it is pure aluminum, its strength is lower. The higher the purity, the lower the strength. Application : Daily necessities, aluminum plates, lighting equipment, reflectors, decorations, chemical industry containers, heat sinks, melted wires, conductive materials .
  3. 1100 1200 AL general purpose aluminum with a purity of 99.0% or more, after anodizing, the appearance is slightly white . Application: General utensils, heat sinks, bottle caps, printing boards, building materials, heat exchanger components 1N00-The strength is slightly higher than 1100, the formability is good, and its chemical characteristics are the same as 1100.
  • Daily necessities 2000 series-AL x Cu series
  1. 2011 free cutting alloy, good machinability and high strength. But the corrosion resistance is poor. When corrosion resistance is required, choose 6062 series alloy volume shaft, optical components, and screw heads.
  2. 2014 2017 2024 contains a large amount of Cu, which has poor corrosion resistance but high strength. It can be used as a structural material. Forged products are also applicable, such as aircraft, gears, oil, pressure components, and axles.
  3. After 2117 solid solution heat treatment, it is used as the material for anchor nails and is an alloy that delays the aging speed at room temperature.
  4. 2018 2218 alloy for forging. It has good forgeability and high high temperature strength, so it is used for forged products that require heat resistance and poor corrosion resistance, such as cylinder heads, pistons, and VTR cylinders.
  5. 2618 alloy for forging. Excellent high temperature strength but poor corrosion resistance. Application: Pistons, rubber molding molds, general heat-resistant components.
  6. 2219 has high strength, good low-temperature and high-temperature characteristics, and excellent weldability, but poor corrosion resistance. Application:Low-temperature containers and aerospace machines.
  7. 2025 Alloy for forging. Good forgeability and high strength, but poor corrosion resistance. Propeller, magnetic barrel. 2N01-alloy for forging. It has heat resistance and high strength, but it has poor corrosion resistance. Application :Aircraft engines, hydraulic components.
  • 3000 series-AL x Mn series
  1. 3003 3203 The strength is about 10% higher than that of 1100, and the formability, weldability and corrosion resistance are all good. Application: General utensils, heat sinks, makeup panels, photocopier drums, ship materials.
  2. 3004 3104 has higher strength than 3003, superior formability and good corrosion resistance. Aluminum cans, lamp caps, roof panels, colored aluminum panels 3, 3005 3005 is about 20% stronger than 3003, and has better corrosion resistance. Application: Building materials, colored aluminum plates.
  3. 3105 3105 has slightly higher strength than 3003, and other characteristics are similar to 3003. Application: Building materials, colored aluminum plates, bottle caps.
  • 4000 series-AL x Si series
  1. The 4032 has good heat resistance, abrasion resistance, and low thermal expansion coefficient. Application: Piston, cylinder head.
  2. 4043 has less solidification and shrinkage, and it is gray with natural hair color after anodizing with sulfuric acid. Application: Fusion wiring, building panels.
  • 5000 series-AL x Mg series
  1. The strength of 5005 is the same as that of 3003, and it has good processability, weldability and corrosion resistance. The modification and processing after anodization is good, and the color is commensurate with the 6063 shape. Application: Building interior and exterior decoration, vehicle interior decoration, ship interior decoration.
  2. 5052 is the most representative alloy with medium strength. It has good corrosion resistance, weldability and formability, especially high fatigue strength and good seawater resistance. Application: General sheet metal, ships, vehicles, construction, bottle caps, honeycomb panels.
  3. 5652 limits the impurity elements of 5052 and inhibits the separation of hydrogen peroxide. Other characteristics are the same as that of 5052. Application: The hydrogen peroxide container.
  4. The strength of 5154 is about 20% higher than that of 5052. Other characteristics are the same as 5052. Same pressure as 5052.
  5. 5254 restricts 5154’s impure elements and inhibits the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. Other characteristics are the same as 5154. Application: Hydrogen peroxide container.
  6. 5454 is about 20% stronger than 5052, and its characteristics are roughly the same as 5154, but its corrosion resistance in harsh environments is better than 5154. Application: Automobile wheels.
  7. Excellent corrosion resistance of 5056, with cutting and working surface modification, good anodizing and dyeing properties. Application: Camera body, communication device components, zipper.
  8. The strength of 5082 is similar to that of 5083, with good formability and corrosion resistance.
  9. The strength of 5182 is about 5% higher than that of 5082, and other characteristics are the same as 5082.
  10. 5083 alloy for welding structure. It is the highest strength corrosion-resistant alloy among practical non-heat-treated alloys and is suitable for welding structures.Application: Ships of Seawater resistance and good low-temperature characteristics, vehicles, low-temperature vessels, pressure vessels.
  11. 5086 has higher strength than 5154 and is an alloy for non-heat-treatment welding structure with good seawater resistance. Ships, pressure vessels, magnetic discs 5N01-the intensity is the same as 3003, and the anodic oxidation treatment after the brilliance treatment can have high brilliance. Good formability and corrosion resistance. Application: Kitchenware, camera, decorations, aluminum plate 5N02 alloy for hinge nail, hinge nail with good sea water resistance.
  • 6000 series-AL x Mg x Si series
  1. 6061 heat-treated corrosion-resistant alloy. T6 treatment can have a very high endurance value, but the strength of the welding interface is low, so it is used in screws, anchors, ships, vehicles, and land structures. 6N01 is a medium-strength extrusion alloy with a strength between 6061 and 6063, Extrudability, stamping and hardenability are all good, can be used as large-scale thin meat shaped materials with complex shapes, good corrosion resistance and weldability. Application: Vehicles, land structures, ships.
  2. 6063 representative extrusion alloy, with lower strength than 6061, good extrudability, can be used as a profile with complex cross-section shape, good corrosion resistance and surface treatment .Application: construction, highway guardrail, high fence, vehicle, Furniture, home appliances, decorations.
  3. 6101 high-strength conductive material. 55% IACS guarantee wire.
  4. 6151 has particularly good forging processability, corrosion resistance and surface treatment, and is suitable for complex forging products.Application:Machinery and automobile components.
  5. 6262 Corrosion-resistant free-cutting alloy with better corrosion resistance and surface treatment than 2011, and its strength is the same as 6061. Application: Camera body, oxidizer assembly, brake assembly, gas appliance assembly.
  • 7000 series-AL x Zn x Mg series
  1. The 7072 electrode has a low potential, which is mainly used for anti-corrosion covering skins and also suitable for heat sinks of heat exchangers.Application: Aluminum alloy composite board leather, heat sink
  2. 7075 is one of the highest strength among aluminum alloys, but the corrosion resistance is not good. The covering skin with 7072 can improve its corrosion resistance, but the cost is increased. Application: Aircraft, ski poles.
  3. 7050 7050 alloy with improved hardenability of 7075, good stress corrosion cracking resistance, suitable for thick plates, forged aircraft, and high-speed rotating bodies. After returning to the strength close to the base metal. The corrosion resistance is also very good. Application: Vehicles, other land structures, aircraft.
  4. The extruded alloy for 7003 welding structure has a slightly lower strength than 7N01, but it has good extrudability and can be used as a large-scale material with thin meat. The other characteristics are roughly the same as 7N01. Application:  Wheel outer ring of vehicle and locomotive.
